Lor-wis-lem, the the scholar of light, is the lensmaker of the Gargoyles. It was he who helped Naxatilor create the Vortex Lenses that brought theCodex of Ultimate Wisdom into the world to be enshrined in the Shrine of Singularity. Afterwards, he went on to other glass works. Many centuries later, he was willing to repair the broken gargoyle-lens, so that the Codex could be sacrificed to ensure peace between humans and gargoyles.
