The Avatar met Sinjen locked up in the stockade in Yew. Sinjen claimed that he chose to be locked up, so that he could experience a new perspective on life. He wanted life to move around him, so that he could stand still and contemplate the meaning of life. By the time the Avatar met Sinjen, he was looking for a way to escape from the stocks, and believed that Lenora took her idea of justice too far. He jokingly told the Avatar that he preferred Mandrake's take on the virtues.
